I grew up in Metro Manila, Philippines, where I earned my bachelor’s degree in chemistry from the University of the Philippines. After graduation, I co-founded the Radiation Research Center of the Philippine Nuclear Research Institute. Here, I worked with a multidisciplinary team of physicists and biologists, led by Dr. Chitho Feliciano, to study ionizing radiation, its effects, and potential mitigation strategies. I have a strong interest in astrobiology, as well as space exploration and multilateral cooperation. I am a member of the Space Generation Advisory Council, a global non-profit organization which aims to represent the youth to the United Nations, space agencies, industry, and academia. Outside of my professional life, I am a fan of Broadway musicals, television series, podcasts, sports, films, and dogs.

Research

My research focus is on the intersection of the life sciences and astronomy, bringing together my broad interests and educational/professional backgrounds. Particularly, I am interested in studying possible agnostic biosignatures (ie: unambiguous evidence of life), together with potential applications both on Earth and in space.
