Overview

I am a NASA Sagan Fellow hosted at the University of Florida, working in Dr. Jaehan Bae's group to understand how planets form and influence the structure and evolution of protoplanetary discs. I earned my PhD in astronomy from Leiden University and the European Southern Observatory, under the supervision of Prof. Leonardo Testi and Prof. Ewine van Dishoeck.

Education
  • Ph.D., Astronomy, Leiden University & European Southern Observatory, 2023
  • M.Sc., Astronomy, University of Manchester, 2019
  • B.Sc., Astronomy, Universidad de Antioquia, 2018
Area Of Expertise
  • Planet formation
  • Planet-disc interaction
  • Dynamics of protoplanetary discs
Research

I study the dynamical, chemical, and physical structure of protoplanetary discs, the birthplaces of planets, aiming to understand the history and diversity of planetary systems like our own. My primary research focus involves developing models that leverage the exquisite sensitivity and resolution power of the interferometer ALMA to detect young planets by identifying the kinematic signatures they induce in their parental discs. Additionally, I am interested in characterising observables arising from gravitational and fluid instabilities within these environments to devise an improved framework capable of hunting for nascent planets in an unambiguous and statistically robust manner.
