Directions to the Astronomy Department at the University of Florida

There are four airports that serve central Florida: Gainesville, Jacksonville (1.25 hours from Gainesville), Tampa (2 hours), and Orlando (2 hours). Only Delta and US Airways airlines serve the Gainesville airport with connections through Atlanta or Charlotte, respectively. Most major airlines fly into the other 3 airports. All are within an easy hour or two drive of Gainesville.

Directions from Gainesville Airport to UF:

1. Exit airport turn right turn on 39th Avenue
2. Turn left on E 13th Street (south)
3. Turn right on University Avenue (west)
4. Turn left on Gale Lemerand Drive (south)
5. Turn left on Stadium Road (east)

Directions from Orlando to UF (Have $3.50 for tolls):

1. Take North Airport Exit/Orlando
2. Merge into Airport Blvd
3. Take Bee Line expressway west (also called 528 west)
4. Take Florida Turnpike exit and follow turnpike north (6 miles)
5. Turnpike merges into I-75 (55 miles)
6. Take Gainesville Exit #75 (Now exit 384) (Archer Road)
7. Follow Archer road east to North-South Drive and take a left (Shands Cancer Center on corner)
8. Take Right on Stadium Drive (east)

Directions from Jacksonville to UF (watch your speed on US-301):

1. Follow airport exit to Lem Turner Rd
2. Take I-295 south (toward St. Augustine) (2 miles)
3. Take I-10 west (toward Lake City/Tallahassee) (11 miles)
4. Take US-301 South (toward Baldwin/Starke) exit 50 (13 miles)
5. Follow US-301 to Waldo and take slight right turn onto FL-24W (to Gainesville) (37 miles)
6. Turn right turn on N 39th Avenue (11 miles)
7. Turn left on E 13th Street (south)
8. Turn right on University Avenue (west)
9. Turn left on North-South Drive (south)
10. Turn left on Stadium Drive (east)

1. Take Airport exit
2. Follow signs for I-275 north
3. Merge into I-75 north (22 miles)
4. Take Gainesville Exit #75 (Archer Road) (109 miles)
5. Follow Archer Road east to North-South Drive and take a left (Shands Cancer Center on corner)
6. Take Right on Stadium Drive (east)

The UF Astronomy department is located in the Bryant Space Science building at the corner of Stadium Drive and Fletcher Drive across from the International Center. You can find a campus map below. The department office is room 211 on the second floor and various faculty and student offices can be found on floors 2, 3 and 4. See the directory for a listing of people and office numbers.
